Beloved, there was an explosion of growth in the early church as three thousand souls were added to the Kingdom of God. It is exciting to see new believers. They had enthusiasm and hope. But it is also exciting to see spiritual growth. So how did these newbies grow? They were devoted.
Acts 2:42 says, “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” It was their devotion to doctrine, fellowship, communion, and prayer that allowed these new believers to grow.
That same truth is for us also. Are we devoted to, “the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers?” If not, we need to get with it. A Christian should continually be growing and that comes through devotion!
