Pastor’s Pen

Beloved, I had an acquaintance that played pool very well. She became a Christian and decided to use her talents in a manner, which would allow her to spread the Gospel. So she would go down to the local pool hall and challenge those present to a game of pool. If she lost she would pay them money but if she won they owed her time, time that she would use to preach the Gospel to them. It was a very effective outreach. But…she was often criticized for her tactics. I mean…God would never allow that…or would He?

Beloved, the heart of God is to send. Our God is a missionary God. Yet, in spite of the fields being ripe for harvest, so few actually are harvesting souls. Why? Primarily because of two reasons: (1) Because converts do not become disciples, and (2) because disciples do not become apostles. That is, the followers do not become fishers of men. Beloved, if a church does not evangelize it will fossilize. God wants us to be fishers of men.

One thing about fishermen…they don’t mind going to difficult waters to fish. I had a friend who wanted to fish in New Zealand, to be dropped into an area by helicopter, fish for a day and then picked up the next day. Awesome. Beloved, where are you fishing for men?

Blessings,
Pastor Joe
