"To Save Sinners" 1 Timothy 1:15-17 on this week's word of Grace Devotion with Pastor Joe Marquez.10/24/2017 The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of October 16, 2017
To Save Sinners 1 Timothy 1:15-17, “This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. 17All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.” Beloved, our lives are a model of salvation and a prime example for unbelievers! How? First of all we were sinners. In fact, the Apostle Paul says that he was, “the worst of them all.” Now, we may not have been the worst of all sinners but we were sinners and we knew that we could not take care of our sinfulness without Jesus Christ. Secondly, while we were sinners, God had mercy on us. It wasn’t that He saw our goodness but rather our inability to live a godly life outside of Him. So He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. This was all because of God’s great mercy. Remember, mercy is not getting what you deserve. We deserved justice but God gave us a way out! Therefore beloved, when unbelievers see our lives, and hopefully notice the great transformation that Christ has had upon our lives, then they too may say, “If God can save him or her, then God can save me! Lord, may our lives be a testimony to the lost! I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you! In Christ, Pastor Joe
