The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of September 14, 2015
When God Remembers
Revelation 18:5- “For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”
Beloved, there are times that we want God to remember and He does!
Genesis 8:1- “But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water subsided.”
Genesis 30:22- “Then God remembered Rachel, and God gave heed to her and opened her womb.”
But there are also times when we do not want Him to Remember. We do not want Him to remember our sins anymore! Unfortunately there is a time when He does remember iniquities.
In Revelation 18 we have the account of Babylon the Great brought before the Lord in Judgment as Revelation 18:5 says, “For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” The reason that God remembered her sins was because she never repented.
Beloved, if we find ourselves in sin we are to leave in haste as Revelation 18:4 says, “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.”
We do this initially, when we ask Christ into our heart. Because of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, our sins are forgiven and God does not remember our sin anymore.
Isaiah 43:25- “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”
Hebrews 10:14-18, “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. 15And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, 16“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” 17then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” 18Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.”
However, even as a Christian we need to continually confess our sins as 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Beloved, I desire that God remember me as a faithful servant and not as an unrepentant sinner! When I confess my sins, He remembers them no more!
I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
