The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of August 25, 2014
Quiet Time Psalm 63:1-4, “God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.” Beloved, this past weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to take 29 kids on a youth retreat to the HEB Foundation Free Camp in Leakey, Texas. The Camp was a vision of the founder of HEB to provide a resource for those in the community who may otherwise not be able to afford such an adventure. With leaders there were over 40 in attendance. Our theme for the week was Full Effect Faith as we taught through the Book of James. Our focus was to plant and develop a seed in the hearts of the kids to develop a daily quiet time with the Lord. Beloved, having a quiet time with the Lord is an essential of our daily walk with God. As Christians it is the core of our relationship with Jesus. Each of us needs to take some time each day and devote it to Jesus. This is when we open our Bibles and read. This is when we open our hearts and pray. This is when we open our ears and hear His still voice speaking to us through His Word. Beloved, if your life is too busy to spend some time with the Lord, then your life is just too busy. Take the time to read because He took the time to bleed! You will be blessed! As a side note, the result of the camp was that many kids either gave their life to Christ or re-devoted their life to the Lord. Please pray that they would continue to develop their relationship with the Lord and that they would have a full effect faith! I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you! In His Strong Love, Pastor Joe
