The Word of Grace Devotion for March 16, 2020
Psalm 59:16-17, “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. 17You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.”
Beloved, Kind David was in dire straights. King Saul had sent men to watch David’s house in order to kill him. David was afraid and cried out to the Lord. He knew that he had not done anything wrong and yet they were waiting to pounce on Him. Where was David to turn? …
Like King David we find ourselves in similar circumstances. Through no fault of our own, our lives are being turned upside down. Schools are closing, stores are swamped and the Coronavirus is waiting to pounce on us. Fear, worry and illogical activity are rampant. What are we to do?
One, please do not stay glued to the TV or your phone. We are so prone to pounce on every news story and react like a chicken with our head cut off. Instead, glue yourself to God’s Word. It will do wonders for your state of mind. Remember what Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You. Because he trusts in You.”
Two, like King David, we choose to praise the Lord. It would have been easy for David to hide under the covers until it all went away but David choose to turn his attention toward the Lord and away from his worry singing, “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. 17You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.”
We also need to praise the Lord in the midst of our current trial. Sing of His strength and His love and His care for each of us! Praise the Lord in both good times and difficult times, praise the Lord!
I pray that you will have a blessed week praising God for His goodness. I love you and I will be praying for you!
As a fellowship we will continue to gather together and praise Him in the midst of this storm. It is a great time for His light to shine in us and through us!
Praising The Lord-
