Psalm 24:1-2 "Everything is His." on this week's Word of Grace Devotion with Senior Pastor Joe Marquez.
The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of July 31, 2017
Everything Is His!
Psalm 24:1-2, “The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, 2for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.”
Beloved, in Psalm 24, King David makes a bold declaration claiming that everything belongs to God, “The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.” It’s difficult to think of a more sweeping statement of God’s ownership.
When it says, “and the fullness thereof,” it means its harvests, its wealth, its life, and its worship; in all these areas God is Owner of all. Spurgeon said, “The earth is full of God; he made it full and he keeps it full.
In addition, God’s ownership of the earth extends to the people who live upon it, “and those who dwell therein.” In essence, God has a claim upon every person who has ever lived.
So what does this mean to us?
(1) It means that not a man on this planet truly owns a piece of property. The Lord is the owner of the earth. Psalm 24:1 clearly states: The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.”
(2) It means everything that we possess, including ourselves, belongs to God. We cannot claim ownership over ourselves or another person.
(3) The result is that when we begin to live the truth that everything that we posses belongs to the Lord we will be freed from fear, greed, and selfishness. We will be free because the Creator of the world has set us free! Why, because God owns everything and hence God controls everything.
Got Questions put it this way: “Subject to none, influenced by none, absolutely independent, God does what He pleases, only as He pleases, always as He pleases. God is in complete control of every molecule in the universe at every moment, and everything that happens is either caused or allowed by Him for His own perfect purposes.”
Beloved, I pray that you will live in such a manner that your possessions on earth are His possessions and your life is His life! To God be the glory!
May you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
