The Word of Grace Devotion for May 15, 2017
Psalm 111:6-7, “All he does is just and good, and all his commandments are trustworthy. 8They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity.”
Beloved, today I want to focus on the faithfulness of God and the faithfulness of a believer. In our relationship with the Lord, we can respond faithfully because God has been faithful to us. Psalm 111:7 says, “All he does is just and good, and all his commandments are trustworthy.” In other words, God is true to His Word!
Now, because God is true to His Word, we are to be true to Him as Psalm 111:8 says, “They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity.” Hence, we are to “obey faithfully with integrity!” To understand how we are to do this, we need to comprehend faithfulness.
To be faithful or faithfulness is one who is true to his word, promises and vows. It is a steady allegiance, being constant and loyal in the good times and the difficult times. This is how we are to respond to the Lord. And get this, the Lord even desires that we take it a step higher. He desires that we are faithful with integrity. Integrity is soundness of moral character. It is faithfulness throughout. What this means is that we are to be faithful even when no one is looking.
Let me give you an example from the great game of golf! Golf is one of the few or maybe only games where you can actually call and are expected to call a penalty on yourself. Picture a man with his caddie (helper who carries the golf clubs) standing over a ball that moved as he brushed aside a nearby twig. His caddie tells him, “No one saw it move and I will never tell anyone.” The golfer says, “I saw it move and you saw it move and God saw it move. Three people at least saw it move. I must penalize myself one stroke.” You see, integrity is being faithful even when you think you can get away with it. Integrity is obedience and faithfulness in the dark.
Beloved, may we be faithful with integrity and serve and worship the Lord in all honesty. We will be blessed, as we are faithful to the Lord!
I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
