With Whom Are You Walking?
Proverbs 13:20, "He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed." NKJV
Beloved, we are constantly given Scriptural parameters as to whom we associate. I am reminded of Psalm 1:1-2 which says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Also of 1 Corinthians 15:33 which says, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
Hence, the admonition given to us in Proverbs 13:20 is simple: God wants us to associate with like-minded Believers. We learn that we become part of whom we walk or associate with; so if we walk with the wise, we too will become wise. But if we walk with fools, we will be destroyed. Therefore we are to walk with the wise.
The wise are those concerned for others and not just for themselves. Remember what Daniel 12:3 says, “And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” We also should desire to turn many to righteousness!
Beloved, we need to choose our friends carefully. When I first got saved, I knew that I had to disassociate myself from my former friends. Their lifestyle was not what the Lord desired for my life. It was not that I didn’t not want them to know the Lord because I did; but rather I needed to focus on my relationship with the Lord.
Since then I have made it a point to associate my life with like-minded believers. This has allowed me to grow in my walk with the Lord. I heeded the warning to watch where I walked and with whom I walked while still having a heart to turn many to righteousness. May we all choose to do the same!
I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
