"Not Appointed to Wrath." 1 Thessalonians 5:9, Word of Grace Devotion from Pastor Joe Marquez.10/13/2020 The Word of Grace Devotion for October 12, 2020
Not Appointed to Wrath 1 Thessalonians 5:9, “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” NIV Beloved, we had been appointed to wrath. First, because of Adam’s sin we were appointed to wrath. Everyone was! Then, secondly, because of our own sin we were appointed to wrath. We were all headed on a one-way highway to hell. Bummer. But God had a different plan for us. We did not have to remain on the highway to hell. Hence, when we repented of our sin and placed our trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we were saved. Saved from the wrath of God. Saved from the wrath that we had earned as a sinner and saved eternally! Henceforth we have an appointment with heaven, and it is an appointment that every believer will make! Fortunately, God does not punish the Saint with the sinner. He always removes His own before His wrath comes down. He did this with Noah and with Lot and He will do this with us. When Jesus returns for His church, it will be before the Tribulation because, “God did not appoint us to suffer wrath!” But He did appoint us, “to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ!” I look forward to the soon return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but in the mean time I rest in the finished work of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! He has not appointed us to wrath. We are on His side! I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you! Look up Beloved! Your redemption draws near!
