The Word of Grace Devotion for The Week of March 16, 2015
Living Water Luke 7:37-39, “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” Beloved, our heart is the seat of our actions. Out of our heart flow many things as Matthew 15:19 says, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. On the contrary, out of our heart can flow living water. The question for us is: what is flowing out of our heart? Is it evil thoughts or is it living water? At the Feast of Tabernacles, which spoken about in John 7:37-39, water was poured out daily at the altar to remind everyone of the water God miraculously provided for a thirsty Israel in the wilderness. At the feast Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” In other words, the water of the Holy Spirit not only goes in, but it also comes out. Not only does the believer receive the blessing of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, but also he becomes a blessing to others. Beloved, what is flowing out of your heart? Is it evil thoughts or is it living water? The answer lies in how much of Jesus we are allowing into our hearts (through prayer, the reading of His Word, fellowship with other believers, etc.) so that He can flow out of our hearts. I pray that you will have a blessed week and that living water will be flowing in you and through you! I love you and I will be praying for you! In Christ- Pastor Joe
