Love Is A Battlefield
2 Timothy 2:3-4, “Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.”
Beloved, love has been described as a battlefield. It is a battlefield in the sense that we must fight for that and those that Satan wants to take away from us: our marriages, our family and our friends. Our enemy seeks out to steal, kill, and destroy everything that is precious to us. He also would want nothing better than to render us ineffective.
However, we also have a Savior who informs us that we can do all things through Him, that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. Love Is A Battlefield and battle we must!
Beloved, as we battle for our loved ones us we learn from 2 Timothy that, as a good soldier, we must share in suffering and not get entangled in civilian affairs so that we can please our Savior!
We share in suffering when we: are called upon to choose between anything in this world and Christ, and we choose Christ. We share in suffering when we deal with the things of this world in ways that draw us nearer to Christ to gain more of Christ. We share in suffering when we make decisions showing that the things of this world are not our treasure, but rather show Christ is our treasure. Finally, we share in suffering when if we lose any or all the things this world can offer, we will not lose our joy because Christ is all.
We also must not become involved in civilian affairs. The Word, entangled, has the sense of becoming tied up in something and not able to get loose. Beloved, when we become entangled in something other than Christ, when it holds us captive, we become ineffective in our walk with the Lord and we lose our ability to battle for that and those we love.
Beloved, love is a battlefield! We must share in suffering, not become entangled in civilian affairs and live a life that pleases our Savior. The treasure we are fighting for is precious: our marriages, family and friends. The enemy is strong but the Savior is stronger! Love is a battlefield! May we battle on in the Lord’s strength!
I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
