The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of September 10, 2018
Here I Am Send Me!
Isaiah 6:8-9, "And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ ESV
Beloved, as we begin our inaugural School of Ministry this week I am captivated by the reality of the wonderful opportunity God has given each of these individuals. They are in for a time of growth and testing and I ask that you join with me in praying for them.
Like Isaiah, who while trembling said, “Here I am! Send me.” Those in the SOM have answered the call. Like Isaiah they may also be fearful wondering if they have enough time or enough money or enough character to finish what they have begun. The truth is: the call of God is serious business and as Adrian Rodgers said: “God does business with those who mean business!”
The call of Isaiah required him to go to a people that by and large would not receive his message: “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.” Our call is simply to proclaim the Gospel- God does the building.
In like manner each of these individuals believe that God has a call on their life. The Lord will determine the extent of that call but they have taken the step to further their calling.
Pray for them. The SOM has been designed so that they understand that ministry is expensive: it costs us our time, our talent and our treasure (money). If it was free or if it was easy it would not be ministry. The SOM theme verse is 2 Samuel 24:24, “But the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.”
Pray also for us as a Church that we would come alongside of them to support them with prayer and if possible financially as well. I look forward with great anticipation with what the Lord is going to do with their lives and the life of our fellowship!
I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
In Jesus Name-
