The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of July 2, 2018
Freedom John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Galatians 5:1, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”
Beloved, we soon will once again celebrate the great freedom, which we have in these United States of America. Though we are enduring a rather painful environment of hostility and division, each American can celebrate this freedom. So, grill your hamburgers and blow up your fireworks! Freedom should be celebrated!
As believers, we should also celebrate the freedom that Christ has given us through His precious blood spilled on Calvary. We now possess the freedom to say no to sin and yes to God. Before we were believers, we were stuck in our sin unable to break away. It was Christ’s death on the Cross, which set us free to live the life that God has always intended for us to live!
The joy of the resurrection life in Christ frees us to live with love for God and neighbor without the burden of legalistic expectations. No one ever gets it right all of the time. But with the Spirit of Christ guiding us, we aim to live by grace and love in Jesus’ name, following his example.
So celebrate your freedom in America and celebrate the incredible freedom you have in Christ Jesus. We now have the freedom to live for Him!
I pray that you will have a blessed and safe Fourth of July and a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
