The Word of Grace Devotion for the Week of April 13, 2015
Acts 13:47- “For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
Beloved, the Apostle Paul went about planting churches and leading many to the Lord. We too, like Paul, have been called to be a light to the Gentiles and the world. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Beloved, the presence of light in darkness is something, which is unmistakable. Likewise, the presence of Christians in the world must be like a light in the darkness, not only in the sense that the truth of God’s Word brings light to the darkened hearts of sinful man (John 1:1-10), but also in the sense that our good deeds must be evident for all to see.
Like Paul, we are to shine God’s truth to those living in darkness. It may even mean that we are to go to dark places where our light will shine brightest. Beloved, it is my prayer that as the days of this world grows darker and darker, that we would shine brighter and brighter! In fact that many would come to know, as we know, the truth found in 1 Peter 2:9- “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
Beloved, may we shine and proclaim, “the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
I pray that you will have a blessed week! I love you and I will be praying for you!
